Well, you aren't a bashful bunch, are you?
In the week since we publicly kicked-off the relaunch effort, we've received a number of questions from multiple communication channels about the approach we're taking. How will we make it happen? On what issues are we focusing? Most often asked ... who's leading the effort, who's involved and how can individuals not directly involved, still contribute and participate?
Good questions all.
Relaunching Penn State's home on the Web is a major undertaking, no doubt. Add an iterative approach, an aggressive timeline, big ideas, and the principle that we conduct the entire project in full public view and with considerable input ... and it's clear there needs to be a large, talented and diverse team of individuals to make it all go.
At present, there are nearly 50 team members from around the Penn State community, each with specific skills and experiences, directly and actively involved with iteration and relaunch efforts. As the effort moves forward, we'll be recruiting more. Over a half-dozen teams are focusing on a range of areas, including research, creative direction, content strategy, information architecture, accessibility, mobile delivery, technical approach, analytics and assessment, and more.
The relaunch effort is sponsored by the University Marketing Council, with representation from Undergraduate Admissions, Intercollegiate Athletics, Office of the Vice Provost for Information Technology, Smeal College of Business, Penn State Hershey, Penn State Abington, the Penn State Alumni Association, Outreach, WPSU and University Relations.
Yes, that is a lot of people. It's a major undertaking. We're focused on getting it right. People and participation are key.
One team we haven't mentioned, that we think is a big part of getting it right? The engagement team. We're serious about reaching out. There's an entire team focused squarely on that goal, sharing what's going on and being available to hear what you have to say. While we can't promise we'll be able to incorporate every idea, we do promise to listen closely, consider carefully, and communicate early and often.
